If You Are Native American or Part Native American--4th of July Is Bittersweet

Something to think about...the national holiday is a bittersweet one for those of us of partial Native American heritage.I'm a little bit Cherokee and always have mixed feelings about celebrating a holiday that marks the demise of native people's nations...

The 4th of July celebrates the conquest of native peoples here and the theft of their lands.

But then from the perspective of my polyglot European heritage, I am thrilled that my ancestors could leave what ever difficulties they were facing in northern Europe and come to these shores. Like most things in life--this is complex and complicated.

I do love getting together with friends and hearing those firecrackers--sometimes I imagine its rifle shots of my native ancestor ghosts

picking off another paleface!!

What Is Your Goddess Energy? Mine is Artemis (Creation and Manifestation), Aphrodite (Passion and Love), and Hera (Nourishment and Firey Protection)

My Artemis energy is really vabooming today as the parent company of Vaboomer became legal. Last fall when I first began to conceptualize Vaboomer, some friends who are more left brain oriented, advised me to FOCUS!

I am FOCUSED!! I replied. Mine is a wholistically focused thought process. My vision was multifaceted: first as a Vaboomer blog and then as a larger web-based business that could "save lives" by providing a channel for creative boomers to VABOOM! To encourage Boomers to find their particular vavavaboom. And for Boomer educators to help other boomers with information and support on a wide range of topics--from finances to sex.

But what do I mean about my Artemis energy? I mean those energetic qualities that work on the deep psychic archetypal level to inspire and serve as guides for living.

Artemis is better known as the Roman Goddess of the Hunt--or Diana.

She loves adventure and creation. She  loves to work with others, especially women. Artemis' association with the natural world, the wilderness, symbolizes her own untamed spirit.  The most independent of the goddesses, she roamed the forests in her role as huntress.

She is undaunted.  And the Bear is her pal.

That one made me open my eyes--remember my past posts about having dreamed about bears for 30 years? Aphrodite is the Goddess of Love and Passion. She loves to spread love and has passion for her mission. Hera is the Goddess of the Hearth and tend the home fires, protects her family and nourishes others. See Jean Shinoda Bolen's "Goddesses in Everywoman" to find your constellation of goddess energies. Bolen has written "Gods in Everyman" as well.  http://www.jeanbolen.com

So together these archetypes demonstrate my undaunted passion to provide a channel for others (and myself) to express themselves, gain support and feel the (financial and appreciative) love!! that nourishes in a wholistic way. These energies are what are inspiring me  and my partner, Nancy, to expand Vaboomer in August.

UPCOMING:   You will begin to see more Boomer produced art, books, music, educational topics and support that you are already seeing appear on the Vaboomer blog. There's an Alligator in my Kitchen! Boomers, Don't fight Back--Embrace Your Alligator Energy

Sandra Frosti got a real wakeup call when she was visited by an 8 foot alligator in her Florida home on Tuesday. No one but the alligator was hurt. It got a cut from a broken plate.

I'm wondering what was the real message that this Lord of the Swamps or the spirit of Chief Tamaka, soul of the Seminoles, brought to Ms. Frosti?

Alligator energy is dangerous, there is no doubt of that. But it is god-like as the ancient Egyptians believed. Go to:  Alligator Energy to find out more about alligator totem energy in your life.

Alligators are creatures of water and air. They glide soundlessly looking above the waterline (emotion) seeing all around (air/spirit) to find logical answers. They are creatures of ready stillness and great wisdom. But we would be well-warned to take care not to be swallowed whole by their powerful wisdom.

Boomers as they are boomeranging to new paths in their lives need the ready stillness of alligator energy.

And they need the powerful insights it can bring them as they are looking over the waters of old emotions -- lost marriages, old careers, children on their own life paths, in order to see which new waters to swim.

Have a plate handy as well to bop an alligator over the head if it gets too too pushy!
