Halstead Avenue Bistro
(Nov 2008) GREAT dinner, service, and especially great desserts! -Liz
(May, 2008) Outstanding! They provided GF crackers with hummus for starters and their menu listed all the GF options, and the waitress said many of the other dishes could be made GF. GF pasta is available for all their pasta dishes. The food and service were so great I came back for dinner. -Ben
Lili and Loo
(April, 2008) Great restaurant, great food, really fantastic to not
have to worry about explaining GF to the staff. Thank you for the
recommendation. -Peter
Lili’s 57 – New York, NY
(Nov 2008) The pan-fried dumplings are the best! I also had a really
wonderful Masaman shrimp curry. We've eaten here several times. Food is
fresh and beautiful and best of all, GF! Make sure you ask for the GF
menu when you are seated. -Julie
(Nov 2008) The food was amazing; we went back 3 times because we knew it didn't bother our stomachs. The manager, I think, came over after finding out we asked for the gluten-free menu and assured us everything made for us would be gluten-free. The dumplings were suggested so we tried them next time, and they were good. They also had gluten-free beer - tasted like beer. All staff was very friendly. Thank you to Lili's for great food in NYC. -Donna
(Oct 2008) The food was excellent. They had a gluten-free menu, and the waitress was aware of our gluten-free dietary concerns. She was patient and helpful, and responded very well to our questions and concerns. My daughter (16 years old), who needs a gluten-free diet, was not sick at all and she loved the food. I strongly recommend this restaurant. -Marie-Josée
Mama’s Italian Restaurant, NY
(Jan. 2009) I went to Mama’s Italian Restaurant with my parents the
other day, and we were served with such great food. The portions were
big and tasty. We also tried the homemade gluten-free bread, and it was
delicious. It is a definitely must go to and try place. -Iva
(July 2008) This was the first time that I've been to Mama's Restaurant. Their gluten-free menu was extensive, so choosing was difficult. I decided to try something basic: pizza. The best comment that I can make was that it tasted like pizza! I intend to become a regular visitor to Mama's so that I can try many of their other dishes. -David
Mitchell’s Fish Market – WI
(May 2008) We went to Mitchell's Fish Market at the Brookfield Square
Mall in Wisconsin for dinner last night. The gluten-free menu was
extensive; offering fish, chicken, and beef choices for main entrees,
and the food was fabulous. My son had the steak and shrimp, which had a
sauce on the side that was freshly made especially for him, and it was
delicious. He had the vanilla bean crème brulee for dessert without the
orange shortbread, and it was so good. When we entered the restaurant,
the hostess gave us a gluten-free menu to look at so we could decide
whether we wanted to stay or not. Then the manager came out when we
decided to stay and seated us. When the waitress came, she already knew
my son would be eating gluten free without us saying a word. She
handled everything perfectly. It was the best restaurant experience
we've had in ages. Everyone was so attentive. I would still be careful
at wonderful restaurants like this one by never assuming the wait staff
knows what you need, but this was just an exceptional experience all
around. -Mary
Nizza - NY
(Dec 2008) By far, the most delicious GF menu I have encountered. The
socca is addictive and makes bread a distant memory. The people I was
dining with also ordered GF so we could share. They were as happy as I
was. The pasta was perfect as was the salmon. Salads and soups were
interesting and yummy. Restaurant is young, hip and priced for all
budgets! I wanted to cry. -Patty
Outback Steakhouse – TN
(August 2008) This was my first experience dining out since being
diagnosed with Celiac. We travelled an hour to eat here and will do it
again. They were so accommodating and friendly. Wonderful Gluten Free
experience! -Nicki
Rafferty’s Restaurant and Pub - NH
(Nov 2008) This was our first visit, and we were very pleased. Easy
ordering, and knowledgeable server. Wings and onion rings were
excellent, and the flourless chocolate cake was the best we’ve ever
had. Felt very comfortable and at ease here. Will absolutely return
next time we're in the area. -Alison
Risotteria, NYC
(Dec, 2008) The service was good, but the food was amazing, especially
the breadsticks and the cupcakes! Almost everything on the menu was
gluten-free. I would definitely go back next time I am in NYC. -Donna
Seasons, An American Bistro – NY
(June 2008) Excellent meal. The atmosphere is both elegant and
comfortable. Just a joy to sit with fellow GF friends and dine without
worry. The selections are many and the taste is excellent. I would
recommend this wonderful spot to those looking to enjoy a GF meal and
those who are simply looking for a wonderful place to dine. Great
options for all. -Dana
The Heights Bistro and Bar, NYC
(Oct, 2008) I discovered the Heights Bistro and Bar three weeks ago and
was so impressed that I wanted to go back with an old friend. Our lunch
was lovely from start to finish and the atmosphere of the restaurant is
quiet and pleasant, so we could enjoy each other's visit. The wait
staff were attentive and helpful, and the menu is affordable. On my
first visit I had the seared scallops on a bed of mescaline salad with
toasted almonds, green beans, sun dried apricots, goat cheese and
topped with a tarragon vinaigrette. It was so delicious that I couldn't
resist a second time and again, it was just as tasty and I thought I
was in a little bit of heaven once more. It was a perfect luncheon for
a crisp fall day, finished off with a cup of hot peach black tea. With
a restaurant this perfect there is no reason for me to go to any other
when I'm in Yorktown. -Judy
