IPods Not only for Teens
FROM WALL STREET JOURNAL: One of the raps on iPods is that users tend to close themselves off from other people and retreat into their own private world.
But with stroke and dementia patients, iPods and other MP3 players are having just the opposite effect.
Music Therapy Reaches Patients
IPod music therapy reaches patients in a new way and decades of research support its validity.
Music from a person's teenage years seems to be especially evocative of memories, for reasons not well understood.

Love the idea! I'm wondering, though, about how open Elders with Dementia would be to the gadgetry -- ie...the headphones and unique interface that requires dexterity. They frequently do NOT like anything on their head, and pull at wires and cords repeatedly. Maybe this therapy would be more effective for our generation, since we wear ipods around like a second pair of shoes.
(ps: I luv your blog and linked to it in a recent entry about caregiving blogs).
