Some businesses are thriving in the Recession:
from US News & World Report:
- Home Gardening -- $50 seeds provide $1,200 food
- Movies -- Netflix subscribers up 26%, movie going up
- Romance Novels -- also Science Fiction
- Condom makers -- some pastimes make us forget
- Resume Writing -- great business
- Public Universities -- attendance instead of private
- Chocolate -- Hershey sales up 50%
- Mcdonalds food sales -- profits are up
- Career Development -- guides, books, websites
- At-Home Coffee Brews --less trips to Starbucks, more home brewing
*SPAM: At the Hormel Foods Corp. plant in Austin, Minn., two shifts of workers have been making Spam seven days a week since July, and they've been told the busy work schedule will continue indefinitely.

FYI, we're also big on Anniversary films and montages, and engagement love stories as well. If you can think it (fashion shows, too!) we'll be happy to conceptualize, film and produce it!
We've also gotten big into non-profit projects.

Naomi, Good for you - fantastic. Yes, some things are so strong and emotional, like weddings or buying things for children that people spare no expense. Add to the recession proof industries...the business of weddings!
After a 9 year career as a teacher; 20 years as a personal coach and counselor; 10 years of taking care of my elderly widowed dad; I reinvented myself, and launched my new business making wedding and special event films.
Altho I'm more the age of the bride's mom (sometimes the grandmom!) than the bride - I've found all my previous jobs and my husband's previous work as a corporate videographer have enabled me to climb to the top of the industry in just under 5 years. Using the talent and perspective of a team of college interns working happily in our studio, we have won accolades ("Best of Boston") and I have found myself revitalized by my new career.
Altho we're now working 24/7, and have just taken on a third partner (a former intern, now 22 and a business + creative wiz), I feel as young as I did 20 years ago, and intend to keep going until I drop!

Yes, beer consumption is up. Also, oddly so is consumption of chicken! So there are a number of products that are recession-proof.

I am surprised the Beer industry isn't up there too.
