Last spring in the PA presidential primaries, Sue Nace of Red Lion, PA, went to her local polling site wearing an Obama t-shirt. The election volunteers would not let her vote until she covered the writing. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20081004/ap_on_el_pr/what_voters_wear.
Falling into the category of "drop jaw on the floor" and "can you believe this" and "you can't make this stuff up," Pennsylvania Republicans now want to make new laws governing voters' dress. Predictably, Dems see this as an abridgment of free speech.
I thought that we were bigger than this type of social control, but given the GOP shenanigans surrounding the two previous presidential elections, why am I surprised!?!
So, if these laws are enacted in PA and then copied elsewhere...I'm going naked, like my friend Carol, who alerted me to this development. I think any voters who might be weak minded enough to be swayed by a tee shirt, will be staggered by the sight of me au natural!!
Who wants to start a VOTE NAKED movement with us?

I remember a time not too many years ago (well maybe it was 25 years ago) when someone came into the polling place and complained that there was a campaign sign leaning against the building. In those days, it was illegal to have any campaign signs or material within one hundred feet of a polling location. The head election worker had to run outside, in the rain no less, and determine if the sign was within the prohibited distance! Crazy stuff!!
