Do you remember when Lily (Tomlin) Dolly (Parton) and Jane (Fonda) captured and strapped their evil, "sexist, lying, hypocritical, bigot" boss (played by Dabney Coleman) up and suspended him in the air?
Oh what a delicious funny scene. And since women are still suffering from economic inequality and sexism, this film still has great relevance. Cause you gotta laugh so you won't cry from the injustice of it all!
Now Dolly, talented wonderful Dolly, has written the songs for a musical version of "9 to 5" which she has been working on for the past four years.
It opened in previews in LA yesterday. It is slated for Broadway in the spring. I'm getting my tickets as soon as I can.
We need some lighthearted, but sharply pointed social satire to remind
that women of all shades of tan and ages (the majority pop.) are still disadvanted in the US.
Hooray for Dolly! When you have a right wing bigoted, lying, hypocritical, sexist---hmmm... doesn't that sound like the Dabney Coleman character??? GOP ticket potentially winning, we need constant reminders of the reality of women's lives. fg any of you out there think that the GOP ticket will do anything good for women, you need to get the blinders off.
