I think that for older boomer women, this is indeed a hard lesson. Even if we thought we had shoveled out of our psyches all the old programming, it still lingers. And coupled with the gender and race wage differences, women living longer and lingering (reemerging) work barriers for women, it is a difficult condition--especially if you still hope somewhere in the recesses of your inner self --that you will be rescued.

Thank you for sharing this all too common issue.

Hard lessons: that no man would take care of me -- I had to be independent.

That "real" friends are hard to come by and few (especially in hard times).
